AdminBolt 1.9.1: Hub Account Migration With Data, Purchased Certificates and a PHP API

·AdminBolt team·4 min read

AdminBolt 1.9.1 is out. Hub account migration now moves an account to another node together with its files, mail and databases, when the account owner allows it. You can install a certificate you bought for the panel hostname. The admin REST API can now install web servers and PHP versions and change their settings.

Hub account migration with data

With multi-server management, the hub can move an account from one node to another. In 1.9.1 that move carries the account's data. The migrate dialog has Website files, Email and Databases, all ticked by default. The migration shows its progress. The account owner can turn off the copying of their data in the client panel. A migration that copies data is then refused.

With Suspend the account on this server afterwards ticked, the source account is suspended. Whatever changed during the first copy is then copied too. If the migration fails, the copy stays on the target, so you can retry. When the DNS switch or the source suspension does not finish, the migration shows as completed with warnings.

Purchased hostname certificate

General Settings now takes a certificate you bought for the panel hostname. Paste the certificate, the key and the chain. A certificate the panel cannot use is refused before anything changes. Once installed, it covers the panel, mail, FTP and the web server. The page shows where the certificate in use came from, who issued it, when it expires and which names it covers.

The automatic hostname renewal leaves a purchased certificate in place. The panel warns you 30, 14, 7 and 1 days before it expires. It warns again once it has expired. Switching back to automatic SSL orders a new certificate first. If that order fails, your purchased certificate stays.

Web servers and PHP over the API

The admin REST API gains two groups of endpoints. /api/admin/web-server reports the configured web server, the one serving ports 80 and 443 and whether they differ. It installs and removes Apache, LiteSpeed Enterprise, OpenLiteSpeed, Phusion Passenger and the LSAPI Engine. You can follow each job with its log. /api/admin/php-versions installs and removes PHP versions, shows what uses a version and changes its php.ini directives, extensions and PHP-FPM settings.

The API refuses the same actions the panel pages refuse. It says why. If you provision servers with your own tooling, a server can now be set up end to end without opening the panel.

Backups that tell you when they fall behind

The Backups hub now warns when scheduled backups fall behind. It shows how many accounts are waiting, how long the oldest one has been due and how many backup slots are busy. It also tells you what to do next to catch up.

To set how many backups run at once, run:

bolt-cli set-ini-settings BOLT_BACKUP_CONCURRENCY <n>

Backup now on the Backups hub says why a backup did not start.

Certificates that renew

Older Let's Encrypt and ZeroSSL certificates renew on the usual schedule. bolt-cli run-auto-ssl --list-unmanaged lists every domain that AutoSSL does not renew, with the reason.

After a restore, the panel issues a new automatic certificate when the restored one can no longer be used. That holds for in-place, whole account and JetBackup restores. A certificate the customer uploaded stays as it is.

Smaller things you may notice

Mailing list subscribers belong to the account of the list. Each customer sees only their own subscriptions. Deleting a hosting account removes its mailing lists, archives and subscribers.

Migration in the admin panel opens straight on Migrate from cPanel or DirectAdmin, with a Start a migration button. On the client Databases page, Edit Privileges and Detach from Database each open their own dialog on the first click. SSL, LVE fault, reseller limit and stuck worker alerts reach the notification bell of every administrator. The client Email Filters page is gone. Mail filters live in Roundcube.

Upgrading

Upgrades run from the panel. Open System, then System Updates, check for updates and start 1.9.1 from there. New installs are one command:

curl -sSL https://get.adminbolt.com/install.sh | bash
